PYAP Conducts Environmental Activity

One of the components of Unlad-Kabataan Program is The Leadership Training and Social Responsibility in hich Weekend youth Brigade encourages the PYAP members to undertake community building projects such as tree planting, vegetable production, garbae collection, streets and drainage cleaning and other environmental protection and conservation activities.

Recently, to groups of PYAP (Barangay XVIII-A and Barangay IX - Ajinomoto) separately conducted environmental activity. In response to the celebration of Environment month, the PYAP Victorias City Chapter from different baranagays spearheaded and initiated the river clean-up drive at Barangay XVIII_A, Golf Area last June 2, 2007. The SK and Barangay Council are also there to support and supervised the said activity while Barangay IX-Ajinomoto conducted canal digging along main road going to ajinomoto public plaza which was done last June 17, 2007.

City Conducts Coastal Clean-up

Four Hundred (400) participants armed with different cleaning tools such as shovels, rakes, hoes, brooms and plastic bags joined the coastal/riverbank clean-up activity of the City on June 21, in consonance with the observance of the 15th Provincial Environment Week whose focus is the protection and conservation of marine resources to support this year's theme: Our seas..our life..our future. Divided into 3 groups the participants proceeded to Villa Miranda/Pasil, Magnanud and Malihaw riverbanks.Schools who participated were Victorias National High School, Negros Occidental Science High School, Jack and Jill (Castleson) High School and St. Mary Mazzarello School. Other sectors were PYAP, Barangay Captains and kagawads, Venus Lions Club, Victorias Leo Club and the city employees.

Incoming Board Member Patrick Lacson graced the launching of the coastal/riverbank clean-up at the public plaza with him were city councilors Vincent Marie Roa, Audie Malaga, Andrei Garcia and incoming councilor Jerry Jover.
SPM Andrei Garcia, chair of SP Committee on Environment, spearheaded the clean-up activity.

Oath Taking Held


MTCC Judge Victor V. Cuñada administered the oath of office of elected city officials during the Oathtaking ceremony held on June 28, 2007 at the City Mayor’s Office at 9:00 a.m.

Sworn in were Mayor Severo A.Palanca, Vice Mayor Francis Frederick P. Palanca, City Councilors : Teresita Sta-Ana Bartolome, Audie R. Malaga, Sulpicio B. Montinola, Jr., Rene E. Imperial, Jerry L. Jover, Mark L. Palanca, Pacifico J. Adorio, Jr., Jose B. Alvior, Jr., Joseph Andrei A. Garcia, Dexter L. Senido.
Outgoing councilor, Hon. Vincent Marie Roa, introduced the newly elected officials as well as the administering officer, Judge Cuñada.


Capping the ceremony was the pinning of the city seal pins to all City Officials by a member of their family.
In attendance were immediate members of the family of the officials, Board Member Patrick Lacson, Mrs. Luz Hilario incoming Victorias COMELEC Officer, Ms. Agnes Roullo, outgoing city COMELEC Officer, DILG officer Mr. Magbanua, District Supervisors and principals, Barangay Captains, Senior Citizens, department heads of the City and National Government offices and friends.

Meanwhile, the inaugural session of the new city councilors will be on June 6 in the afternoon at Arts and Cultural Center. The State of the City address of Mayor Severo A. Palanca will also be delivered.
