WELLNESS PROGRAM FOR PROGRESS 2009


Health is wealth and the city government take efforts in conceptualizing programs for the wellbeing of its people especially the underprivileged sector of the society.

February 15, Vice Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca spearheads the launching of Wellness Program for Progress 2009 at Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Arts and Cultural Center. More than one thousand beneficiaries from different parts of the city had been served by the program.

The program includes the following free services: consultation, free dental, minor surgery (circumcision), acupressure and haircut. Aside from these services. There are also distribution of eye glasses, Philhealth I.D. and feeding of 429 malnourished children.

The Wellness program for progress 2009 is sponsored by Vice Mayors League of the Philippines-Negros Occidental Chapter, the City government of Victorias headed by Mayor Severo A. Palanca and Mr. Albee Bantug Benitez. With laudable assistance from the Provincial Government headed Gov. Isidro Zayco, Association of Barangay Captains- Victorias City, Kaayong Lawas Foundation, 303rd Infantry Brigade Medical & Dental Team, Nelson Gerona Foundation, VIctorias City Nutrition Council, VIctorias City Health Office – Medical and Dental Team, Provincial Medical and Dental Team, Federation of VIctorias Association of Tricycle Drivers & Owners (FEVATDO), Philippine Guardians Brotherhood, Inc-Victorias Chapter, One for All, All for One Movement, Private Practioners of General Medicine & Dental Medicine, Rotary Club of Victorias, Venus Lions Club, and Philippine National Red Cross.

March 21st, Kadalag-an Day for the City of Victorias is made special by the very exciting shootout between The Tender Juicy Giants versus The Elasto Painters at the Victorias Coliseum, on Kadalag-an afternoon, Saturday 4pm.

Victorias Mayor Severo A. Palanca does it again! Fresh from the heart pounding, throat drying Alaska Aces & Coca Cola Tigers’ out of town game last October 11, 2008, basketball fanatics throughout Negros Island will be treated to another PBA spectacle! This time, the Tender Juicy Giants will engage the Elasto Painters in another breathtaking show of athletic ability, agility and mastery of the game!

The Victorias City Sports & Amusement Center, the PBA’s Home in Northern Negros or the “Coliseum” as Victoriahanons call it, is a preferred venue of the PBA. Both Alaska Aces and Coca Cola Tigers, in separate instances, were overheard praising the Victorias Coliseum amenities. The, Alaska Aces even went into overtime during the practice session, evidently enjoying the playing court.

The March 21, 2009 Game is one of several Kadalag-an Day Highlights that the City Mayor has prepared for the people of Victorias and PBA aficionados as well.
