Good Governance Orientation To Improve Employees Performance Held In Victorias


A series of orientation promoting good governance for the City’s office heads and employees in Victorias was held last Nov. 20, 21, 23, 27 and 29.
This was spearheaded by the City Planning and Development Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government and the City Human Resource Management Office.
Different speakers from the Province and the City shared their expertise covering the topics on Local Governance Performance Management System, Excellence in Local Government Award, Seal of Good Housekeeping, Executive-Legislative Agenda, and Strategic Performance Management System.
The seminar was divided into distinct batches and catered to the specific needs of the employees composed of the supervisory, non-supervisory positions and the rank and file.
The participants were thankful to have attended the orientation which will help them develop, improve and appreciate their contribution to the betterment of the City.
The activities were held at Marjhun’s Restaurant, Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Arts and Cultural Center and the Victorias Sports and Amusement Center.

Lights Of Christmas Shine In Victorias


A switch on ceremony signaled the start of the yuletide season at the Victorias City Public Plaza last Nov. 29.
The Victoriahanons joined and witnessed the early Christmas celebration along with the City and barangay officials, department heads, employees, and special guests.
Vice Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca and councilors Vincent Marie Roa, Audie Malaga and Daniel Tornea shared their messages for the season of love and peace as they led the switching of the lights on behalf of the City and Mayor Severo Palanca.
Cong. Alfredo Abelardo Be-nitez, through his representative, Mr. Sulpicio Montinola Jr. extended his holiday greetings to the people and wished that these lights will also evoke hope to their hearts.
The Balangaw Dance Art of the Central Philippines State University and Jemaimah Taladico brought entertainment during the activity.

Victorias Hosts Area Meet 2012



The Area III Cultural and Athletic Meet with the theme “Paligsahang Pampalakasan, Tulay para sa Tuwid na Daan” was hosted by Victorias City last Nov. 15-17.

The cities and municipalities, who participated in the sports and cultural tilt along with the host City, were Murcia, E.B. Magalona, Silay City and Talisay City.

The opening was held at the Victorias National High School (VNHS), where Department of Education (DepEd) heads, Third District officials, athletes and spectators converged and witness the successful start of the three-day event.

Mayor Severo Palanca, in his message, lauded the efforts of everyone in putting up the event and cited that the Area Meet is more than just a cultural and sports competition but a venue where young people gain victory through fostering potentials and building friendship.

“Win or lose, everybody is still a winner”, he added.

The different delegations, schools and participants joined the parade around the City and each did their one-minute saludo at the VNHS Grandstand while the hoisting of the athletic banners was led by Third District Cong. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and Mayor Palanca along with the city and municipal mayors, officials, representatives of the officiating body and DepEd.

After the lighting of the urn, Cong. Benitez gave his special message, and has pointed out to the participants especially the student athletes, the importance and value of fair play as the key ingredient in competitions.

The congressman also thanked everyone for exerting their effort in making the area meet in the  Third District happen.

Mayor Palanca declared the area meet open as he led everyone in the releasing of the doves and balloons.

In the overall results, Victorias City ranked 3rd in the elementary and secondary categories.
