VCPPO Accomplishes Activities In 2012


The Victorias City Parole and Probation Office (VCPPO) with its partner agency, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology celebrated the 9th City Correctional Consciousness Week for its clientele and inmates in October.
The activity,  with the theme, “Tao Ma’y Nakapiit, Pagpapala’y Makakamit” commenced with a flag raising ceremony where Vice Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca gave an inspirational message at the public plaza last Oct. 22.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Candle Making Livelihood Program was launched at the Rotary Club of Victorias Training Center attended by selected clients and Volunteer Probation Aides (VPAs).
The “Gulayan Sa Barangay” was also launched at the Nutrition Center of Barangay I with the full support and cooperation of Brgy. Capt. Rex Velasco last Oct. 23.
On October 24, two personnel and VPAs Efren Miravalles and Abdulio Dequit attended the Seminar on Restorative Justice at the Social Hall, Provincial Capitol Building, Bacolod City with OIC of Bureau of Corrections Manuel G. Co, CESO II, MNSA as resource speaker.
The Probation and Parole Officers, uniformed personnel of PNP and BJMP in Negros Occidental and Social Workers of the Provincial Government attended the seminar.
Cheers and yells of the participants were heard during the friendship game between the BJMP inmates and PPA-DOJ clients followed by a “Talakayan” on the Five Pillars of the Criminal Justice System on the same venue graced by resource speakers from the Regional and Municipal Trial Courts, Probation Office, PNP, Prosecution Office, and the Community at the BJMP Compound, Victorias City on Oct. 15.
The highlight of the activity was the medical-dental mission at the BJMP ompound on Oct. 26, 2012 in cooperation with the sponsors, mentors, the City Health Office, Rotary Club of Victorias and other private individuals.
A gender sensitivity training for VPAs was conducted at the Sweet City Captel Training Center, Bacolod City last Nov. 15 and 16.
The VCPPO sent VPAs namely Brgy. Kagawad Nelsa Mulavin of Brgy. IX, Brgy. Secretary Rodelyn Silab of Brgy. XX and JO2 Rosalinda Camacho of Brgy. VII.
The two-day training, with Atty. Chit Antipatia as resource speaker, gave them knowledge on gender roles in the community.  
Another activity attended by Brgy. Kagawad Lydia Hiavia of Brgy. XVII and Brgy. Tanod Allan Jun Jallorima of Brgy. XIV, was the Basic Training for Volunteer Probation Aides on Nov. 27 and 28.
It was considered as an introductory training to the newly recruited VPAs in Victorias City.
In the spirit of Christmas, VCPPO clients had their year-end evaluation and Christmas party at the Barangay Hall of Brgy. IV last Dec. 10.
The VCPPO is proud that one of its VPAs, Brgy.  Kagawad Edna G. Durana of Brgy.  I, at the same time, the newly elected President of the MAVISA (Manapla-Victorias-Saravia) Chapter VPA Association, received a certificate of recognition for her significant role and contribution in the Provincial Council for Women (PCW) as former Chairperson at the Business Inn Hotel, Bacolod City last Dec. 12.
She has always been dedicated to her service and has shown strong support to the programs and advocacies to women’s empowerment in Victorias City and the province of Negros Occidental.
As a culmination of the 2012 celebration, the personnel of VCPPO attended the year-end evaluation, Christmas program, and physical fitness program where a seminar on disaster preparedness and updates on the GSIS program was given  at Pta. Villa, Arevalo, Iloilo City on Dec. 13 and 14.
