Victorias City’s 14th Charter Celebration cries out Hugpong Victoriahanon, Kadalag-an Magapadayon!


Fourteen years of victory and progress, Victorias City moves forward in unity as the theme for this year’s Kadalag-an Festival celebration shouts, Hugpong Victoriahanon, Kadalag-an Magapadayon!
                The City Government of Victorias under the dynamic leadership of Mayor Severo Palanca, has celebrated a week filled with fun and exciting activities as it runs from March 14 until March 21.
                A colorful motorcade with the city officials, employees, various socio-civic and non-government organizations, business sectors, academe and transport groups of Victorias City, opened the charter celebration on March 14.
                In the evening of the same day, the Kadalag-an Queen (KQ) Pre-pageant and Talent Night showcased the different talents of the 12 lovely KQ candidates and presented their hour glass figure in the swimsuit competition.
                The Educators’ Day was marked by a motorcade and the Evolution of Dance Cultural Presentation of the DepEd family after the separate sports event which is the Invitational Men’s Volleyball which took place on March 15.
                On March 16, the Invitational Women’s Volleyball and Taekwondo Competition kicked off in the morning while the Festival Costume Parade and Competition has left the audience in great awe in the evening.
                After the Invitational Drum and Bugle Competition in the morning, the new KQ 2012 was crowned during the Kadalag-an Queen Pageant and Coronation Night at the City Public Plaza on March 17.
The annual mass wedding was held on March 18 at the Don Alejandro Acuna Arts and Cultural Center in the morning and  since it is the Congressman’s Day, the activities were Pakaon sa Plaza and Larong Pinoy, Pabingo sa Plaza with guest performers from Manila and local band in the evening.
Exciting activities were lined up on March 19 such as the Invitational 10K Marathon Run, Invitational Boxing Competition and the Talentadong Pinoy of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod Day on March 20 was also a day where Victoriahanons get to celebrate the charter anniversary along with the City officials during the Grand Kapamilya Night at the City Public Plaza.
The activity gave our elected officials the chance to converge with NGO’s and PO’s.
                After the Diana early in the morning of March 21, the last day, never failed to draw the crowd with the rain or shine, Dance at the Park Competition which has been the highlight of the anniversary celebration, the City officials’ and employees’ Broadway Musicale Presentation, Mamma Mia, and the Celebrity Night featuring ABS-CBN talents, Zia Quizon, Yen Santos and Neil Coleta and comedian Donita Nose.
                Indeed, this has been a successful and colorful Kadalag-an Festival and it continues to look forward for further development and innovations in the years to come making Victorias City a tourism and investment destination.

Victorias City Crowns Yzsabelle Montinola As Kadalag-An Queen 2012


Out of the 12 lovely gems, she outshined the rest with her smile, presence and carriage. She is Yzsabelle Barreta Montinola, an eighteen-year-old, second year Business Administration student of the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod.
    Yzsabelle, the daughter of a businessman, Joselito Anatalio Montinola and VMC employee, Ana Ma. Isabel Montinola of Brgy. XV-A, has regarded Kadalag-an Queen (KQ) 2012 as a great and life-changing experience, “Thank God and to the KQ production who made everything possible”, Montinola said.
    She drew her strength and inspiration from her mother, family, friends and the experience in joining and becoming a part of such prestigious pageant.
Aside from the pageant rehearsals, she constantly watched video clips of ramp models and Miss Universe and observes proper diet and exercise in preparation for KQ.
    “Kadalag-an Queen is a very honorable title for me. I will do my best to take good care of this title and I will let the people know that I truly deserve the crown”, she said.
    Yzsabelle was awarded as Ms. Photogenic, Best in Long Gown, Best in Production Number, Ms. Olive C, Ms. Coca Cola, Ms. Splash, Ms. Cali, Ms. Myra E, Ms. Babyflo, and 2GO Princess.
    KQ 1st Runner-up Katrina Mae Palaganas of Brgy.XIX-A received the Best in Festival Costume and Ms. Boardwalk award while 2nd Runner-up Charmaine Magbanua of Brgy. IX was Ms. Dove.
    This year’s Kadalag-an Queen is produced by the City Government of Victorias headed by Mayor Severo Palanca at the same time spearheaded by Joy Famini of the KQ pageant committee, under the direction of Edu Pillora with line producer Gary Lake Liza of Leo Vision.

100 Couples Exchange Vows In Victorias City Mass Wedding

A hundred couples were married during the Victorias City Kadalag-an Festival Mass Wedding at the Don Alejandro Acuna Yap Quina Cultural and Arts Center last March 18.
    Mayor Severo Palanca, the solemnizing officer, Vice Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca along with Councilors Teresita Bartolome, Rene Imperial, Audie Malaga, Teodoro Panisales, Vincent Marie Roa, Daniel Tornea, SK President Ericka Detoyato, guests, sponsors, and employees were present during the ceremony.
    Cong. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez gave an inspirational message as he was one of the honored guests and also gave additional cash incentives to the special awardees.
    The special awards given were the early love birds or the youngest couple, the longest cohabiting couple and the best-dressed or the couple in best wedding attire.
    Aside from the cash incentive they also received wedding gifts and tokens from the Mayor, Civil Registrar’s Office and the City.
    A simple yet unique ceremony with sunshine yellow and apple green motif reception was prepared for the couples which included the throwing of bouquet and bachelor’s garter, releasing of dove, slicing of cake, and of toasting of wine.
    Councilor Roa was the one who serenaded the couples.
    City Civil Registrar Julie Ann Roa said that the mass wedding this year went smooth because of the cooperation and eagerness of the couples, with the City, the committee under the Civil Registrar’s Office and the people involved in the mass wedding.

Palanca, Clavel Families Visit Fire Victims of Brgy. VI in Victorias City

After the fire incident that burned down eight households in Brgy. VI leaving them homeless last March 9, the family of Victorias City Mayor Severo Palanca, Dr. Christopher Palanca, wife Rachelle Clavel Palanca along with their son Chase Palanca and also Rachelle’s father Dr. Clavel visited the fire victims and shared some help last March 13.
    In the initial report of Fire City Inspector and Fire Arson Investigator FO3 Nathaniel Amores, the fire incident was caused by an electrical short circuit which left six houses totally damaged, two other partially damaged and three injuries yet luckily without any fatalities.
    Along with General Services Officer Armen Tabligan and Brgy. Capt. Hermigilda Dela Cruz, the Palanca and Clavel family who came from New Jersey, U.S.A. and were here for a vacation, visited the area where the fire incident took place and witnessed the affected families’ situation.
    They gave the fire victims clothes and cookies and ice cream for their snacks during the visit.
    Those who received the support were the families of Lamberto Delgado, Leobert Delgado, Roselyn Alegre, Johnny Dumagat, Sonia Tobongbanua, Laylyn Sandrino, Rolando Belleza and John Rey Baguio.
    The residents were very thankful for the goods which were shared to them and some were emotional as they received the help from the guests.
    Temporary house tents were made to provide shelter for the fire victims and they are now dependent on the support of the government and other groups to help them recover from their loss as some of the children are still going to school.

251 Active Civilian Disaster Volunteers In Victorias Take Oath

   Two hundred fifty-one Active Civilian Disaster Volunteers (ACDV’s) had their oath taking at the City Public Plaza last March 9.
    This program is under the Victorias City Risk Reduction Management Council with the chairmanship of Mayor Severo Palanca.
    It aims to ensure the preparedness and quick response in mitigating the potential hazardous effects of any disaster or calamities through the recruitment of volunteers composed of the respective punong barangays or barangay captains and active volunteers from all 26 barangays of the City.
    As provided under Sec. 13, R.A. 10121 the LGU’s may mobilize individuals or organized volunteers to augment their respective personnel complement and logistical requirements in the delivery of disaster risk reduction programs and activities.
    The Victorias City Risk Reduction and Management Office (VCDRRMO) deliberately conducted orientation which was divided into clusters on “The Role of Every Member of the ACDV’s” last Feb. 14, 17, 21 and 24.
    The final roster of ACDV’s will be forwarded to the Office of Civil Defense for inclusion in the database of community disaster volunteers.
    A national roster of ACDV’s shall be maintained by the Office of Civil Defense, through the VCDRRMO’s accreditation shall be done at the municipal or city level.

Dance Jam Showdown, Rock Concert Bring Noise To Victorias City Coliseum


A back to back dance showdown and rock concert with the Filipino rock band Sponge Cola dubbed as “Dance Jam” was held at the Victorias City Sports and Amusement Center last March 9.
    This event was sponsored by the City Government of Victorias spearheaded by the Office of the City Mayor, Severo Palanca, Mary Jean Ramos of the Economic Enterprises and Development and Office and organized by the RED 8 Productions under the managing director Jida Hautea.
    Out of the ten dance groups from Victorias City, E.B. Magalona and Manapla, who battled for the P10, 000 grand prize, the KX Jammers Crew was hailed as the champion followed by Bamos Abailar and Real Gallians Crew who landed as first and second runner-up, respectively.
    The star dancer award went to Trosky Palma of the Potion Crew.
The tickets of the event were also raffled and two lucky spectators won brand new mobile phones.
    The crowd went wild with Sponge Cola’s Yael, Armo, Gosh and Ted who entertained the audience with their songs and interacted with them during the concert and meet and greet session which followed after.
    The band has produced chart-topping singles such KLSP, Gemini, Jeepney, Bitiw, Tuliro, Movie, Pasubali, Puso, Ayt!, Makapiling Ka, Di Na Mababawi with and so on.
 
Other dance groups who participated in the dance showdown were the BFABB Crew, Hip Hop Language, New Elements Crew, Infinity Extreme Crew, Potion Crew, X-Force, and Pintados.
