Victorias
City said goodbye to a very dedicated and principled man whose life has brought
inspiration and has touched so many lives, Mayor Severo Acuña Palanca, who died last July 21 at the age of 82.
He has brought
honor to the City of Victorias in his 21 years in government service, as a municipal
councilor in 1988-1992; city mayor in 1992-2001; city vice mayor 2001-2004;
city mayor in 2004-2010 and 2010-2013.
The progressive
municipality of Victorias was converted into a city by virtue of R.A. No. 8488
and the charter was ratified on March 21, 1998 during Palanca’s term.
Mayor “Vero” as
he is fondly called has devoted his life in serving Victorias and its people
with love, zeal and unwavering enthusiasm providing numerous projects for
social, economic and general public services.
He was given
necrological services in Bacolod and in Victorias by people who are dear to
him, his family, friends, very prominent people, City officials and employees,
different organizations and many Victoriahanons where paid their last respects
to the Mayor for his unparalleled service.
Words
are not enough to express the people’s gratitude and love to the man who has
done so much for Victorias.
Mayor Vero will
always be treasured and all his great works remains in Victorias and in the
hearts of Victoriahanons.
