Joint Culmination Of National Disaster Consciousness Month, Sandugo Awardees Recognition Held



The culmination of the National Disaster Consciousness Month and the Recognition of 2012 National Sandugo Awardees was held at the Victorias City Public Plaza last July 30.
Mayor Severo Palanca thanked everyone for their continued support and cooperation towards disaster preparedness activities to mitigate fatalities in times of calamities.
The guest of honor and speaker, Provincial Director of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office P/Sr. Supt. Milko Lirazan graced the event and has shared that the people in the community must prepare and help each other in facing the tragedies and calamities to ensure safety as the country has now been vulnerable and prone to many disasters.
The month-long program of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) of Victorias headed by the Secretariat, PCSupt. Modesto Sanson Jr. (Ret.) was able to train new Active Civilian Disaster Volunteers (ACDVs) through varios preparedness and response orientations at the Victorias City Livelihood and Training Center on July 5, 10, 17, 24 and 27.
The 128 new ACDVs, who were composed of participants from the different barangays took oath during the culmination.
Mayor Palanca along with councilors Alexander Palanca, Audie Malaga, Rene Imperial and Teresita Bartolome presented the certificate of appreciation to the guest of honor and speaker and the assisted awarding of the certificate of recognition to the 12 organizations and agencies for their support and cooperation during the celebration.
Meanwhile National Sandugo Awardees from the different barangays including the mayor himself as an outstanding local executive were also recognized during the event for their continuous active involvement and commitment in the promotion of voluntary blood donation.
The Sandugo Awards were given prior to the joint culmination event at the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City last July 23 and 24.
