Victorias
City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca has turned-over 100 heads of native
chicken pullets to 20 upland farmers last March 14.
The native chicken came from the
Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Unit 6 (DA-RFU 6) as their Community
Participatory Action Research (CPAR) Project.
The special guests during the
occasion were representatives from DA-RFU 6 Florencio Benedicto and Lorenzo
Palada, who also witnessed the simple turn-over ceremony at the Don Alejandro
Acuña Yap Quiña
Arts and Cultural Center.
The recipients of native chicken
were farmers from Brgy. X (upper Hacienda Mimi and Sicaba areas) and Brgy. XI
(Gawahon and Hacienda Buncio areas).
The native chickens
will serve as initial stocks for the development of local and organic poultry
industry of the City.
The project is in consonance with
the present administration’s thrust of making Victorias City an organic hub,
the producer of naturally-grown and chemical-free products in Northern
Negros.
