Victorias Commemorates 29th International AIDS Candle Light Memorial

In line with the 29 years of commemorating the International AIDS Candle Light Memorial, the City of Victorias led by the City Health Office (CHO) along with the different government and private organizations had a torch parade with  a  short  program  and  candle lighting  ceremony last May 20.
The different sectors of the community namely CHO, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education, punong barangays with their barangay officials, bar owners, gay association and Bureau of Fire Protection, among others, marched with their lighted torches during the torch parade from the Lopue’s Department Store going to the Victorias City Public Plaza.
The activity was successful as it did not only raise the awareness on AIDS but also gives hope to those who suffer from the disease.
Vice Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca congratulated everyone involved in the activity and for their conscious effort in spreading the awareness about the disease.
The activity’s highlight took place at the City Public Plaza, where participants held their lighted candles while forming a symbolic AIDS ribbon, as they prayed together for the victims, their families who are suffering around the world and those who already passed away because of this dreadful disease.
