Kadalag-an Festival Successful, Sweet @16

Victorias is sugar and Kadalag-an Festival, the sweetest celebration in Negros Occidental, is now on its 16th year and is even better and filled with more life and color last March 17-22.
This year’s theme, “Hugpong, Hugyaw, Victoriahanon!” was marked with a week-long merry-making involving different government, business and private sectors in the City.
Last March 17, the festival, commenced with a grand float parade followed by the Brgy. Kapamilya in the afternoon, Tingug Sang Kadalag-an 2014 Grand Finals and Pop Dance Showdown in the evening.
The second day, sponsored by the Sangguniang Panlungsod and the Vice Mayor’s Office, was filled with different activities such as the Zumba in the early morning, Ducati Road Show simultaneous with the GSIS Retirees and Pensioners Assembly, and Volkswagen Car Show and Parade.
In the evening of the same day, the Kadalag-an Queen Talent Night showcased the 11 Victoriahanon ladies’ skills and wit after which was the sound-off at the streets.
Last March 19, the DepEd hosted the Drum & Bugle Presentation and a show at the Victorias City Public Plaza.
The Kadalag-an Queen Coronation Night with Xian Lim at the Victorias City Public Plaza took place and has gathered young beauties of Victorias in a star-studded Oscars-themed pageant promoting health and wellness.
                During Cong. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez’ Day, a Pagka-on kag Pahampang sa Plaza and Pa Bingo Party followed by the Top Tax Payer’s Awards Night and Cong. Albee’s Celebrity Night featuring acts and performances from Manila last March 20.

                Last March 21, on of the highlights of the festivity was the Diana in the morning, Employees’ Day and Float Parade with Kadalag-an Queen 2014 Winners,  “Talentadong TODA Driver” FEVATDO in the afternoon.

The night was filled with music by front acts Bare Foot Band and Quinta Band and the City was rocked by Kamikazee Celebrity Band Concert.

                On March 22, a Diana also took place in the morning along with the Victorias Fun Run For A Cause with Daniel Matsunaga, Victorias Kadalag-an Golf Tournament, 1st Mayor Wantan Palanca Shootfest Competition, Barangay Street Dancing w/ live drum beaters, Festival Costume (LGBT), and “Reggae” Sadsad Street Party w/ Live Drum Beaters plus free face and body painting.

It was followed by a comedy show featuring “Pepay Aguilar and Negi” and KATO KAMOS Band in the evening.

                Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca was really thankful for the cooperation of everyone and for the best effort of those involved has exerted in order to come up with a fun, successful and peaceful festival.
