The Victorias
City Kadalag-an Selected Dancers were declared as the champion in the recent
Masskara sa Sulay Basya Street Dancing Competition (Open Category) in Sara,
Iloilo last June 24 in commemoration of its annual patronal fiesta in honor of
St. John the Baptist.
The
victorious group also bagged special awards namely Best in Choreography, Best
in Performance and Best in Street Dance.
The
cash prize won by the champion was P60,000 and P5,000 for every special award.
There were 50
dancers and props men from barangays III, VI, XIII, XXI of Victorias City and
their choreographer is Edric Jimenez and
the coordinator is Rey Galon.
The dancers
received a financial assistance of P15,000 from Mayor Francis Frederick
Palanca.
Other participating
groups were from Bacolod City which was hailed as 1st
Runner-up, Silay City as 2nd
Runner-up, Kabankalan City and Capiz.
