The City of Victorias was chosen by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Unit VI (DA-RFU VI) as the host LGU for the Hands-On Training on FBD Operation and Maintenance.
The training was held at Gawahon Resort last June 10 – 11 and was participated in by more than 50 participants of the 19 FBD recipients from various LGUs of Negros Occidental, including one LGU of Iloilo City.
The training was part of the package of technology transfer to help modernize the rice farming sector of the country.
Participants were given lectures on Maintaining Good Grain Quality, Grain Drying Principles, and Operation and Maintenance of FBD during the first day.
On the second day of training, participants were brought to Purok Cingko for the actual or hands-on drying operation of palay using the FBD.
The trainors were Agri-Engineers of Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) under the DA-RFU VI, and are in-charge of Mechanization and Modernization of the Agriculture Sector of the Region.
The training Team headed by Cesar Balajadia, Visayas Cluster Head of PhilMech, together with Engr. George Geroche (Regional Coordinator for Farm Modernization Program) had a courtesy call to Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca last June 12 and reported to the City Mayor that objectives of the training were attained.
They thanked him for the City’s kind hosting of the hands-on training at Gawahon Resort.
