National
Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in partnership with the City
Government of Victorias through the Victorias City Public Library headed by
Mary Ann Lazo conducted a Seminar Workshop on Establishing Archives and
Managing Archival Documents.
The seminar was
held at the Victorias City Coliseum last Aug. 14-15 themed, “Victorias City…
Our Heritage… Our Future…”
This was
actively participated by different barangays in Victorias.
Dino Acuna gave
his welcome message, and other messages were given by Roy Labarejos on behalf
of Vice Mayor Jerry Jover, Audie Malaga on behalf of Mayor Francis Frederick
Palanca and Councilor Abelardo Jun B Bantug III on behalf of Cong. Hon. Alfredo
Abelardo Benitez.
The Importance
of Keeping Accurate Records for Posterity was dicussed by Gina Guino-o of the
City Civil Regristrar’s Office.
It was followed
by a group brainstorming and preliminary identification of possible archival
data culled from preliminary lecture conducted last May 23, 2014 was facilitated
by Mary Grace Arcenas and Garry Policarpio.
The Establishing
and Managing Archival Data was discussed by Executive Director V Congressional
Library Bureau, House of Representative Emma Rey.
Provincial
Librarian II of Negros Occidental Joyce Deloso talked about the Identifying
Archival Materials, a Lecture / Presentation and Workshop.
The Processing
of Learnings through discussion groups facilitated by Mary Lou Ambrad and Rona
Aguilar followed.
A very
interesting lecture on Conservation, Handling and Restoration of Archival
Materials and Artifacts was given by Conservator/Archival Consultant Lulu Joson
Del Mar.
Participants from
the different barangays in Victorias were very active and appreciated the new
learnings on archiving shared by the resource speakers.
