The City of Victorias celebrated
Nutrition Month 2014 with the theme: “Kalamidad
Paghanda-an: Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan”.
This year’s celebration kicked-off
with a Fun Run from the City’s Coliseum and ended at the City’s Public Plaza.
The Fun Run generated funds amounting
to Php 5,000.00 for the purchase of Ferrous Sulfate tablets for the Iron
Supplementation Program.
The Nutrition month celebration was
declared open by Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca at the Public Plaza right
after the Fun Run.
The month-long celebration included
the Buntis Party Contest (July 8), Search for Well Baby and Nutri-Nanay Contest
(July 9), Gulayan sa Eskwelahan and
Barangay Contest (July 23 – 25), and finally the Beverage-Making Contest
(July 30).

The awarding of prizes to
contest winners was held after the flag raising ceremony last Aug. 4.
The organizers of this year’s Nutrition
Month celebration headed by the City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca (Chairman of the City
Nutrition Council), together with the City Vice Mayor Jerry Jover (City
Nutrition Action Offficer), Cecilia Chavez (Nutrition Program Coordinator of
the City Agriculture Office) and members of the City Nutrition Committee (CSWD,
DepEd, CHO, CCIO, VKLFI, Association of BNS, Association of BHW, DILG, Venus
Lions’ Club, and CAO) were very thankful to all the city officials, department
heads, city employees, students, barangay officials, Kennel Club of Victorias, Victoriahanons
and guests who supported and participated to make this year’s Nutrition
Month celebration a success.
