Victorias City commemorated the 108th
feast of its Patron Saint Nuestra Señora de la
Victoria through Malihaw Festival with the theme “Balik-Victorias, Upod Kita sa
Pag-Asenso!” last April 24 – 26.
As the festivity opened last April
24, a Diana was held early in the morning followed by the 3K and 10K Marathon
and the Opening Parade of the different participating groups and organizations
of the City.
A Garden Show at the Victorias
City Public Plaza showcased different ornamental and herbal plants for sale facilitated
by the City Agriculture’s Office simultaneous with a 5-Aside futsal exhibition.
In the evening, the Victorias City
is for Jesus, A night of Joyful Noise, Praise and Thanksgiving took place where
different religious organizations gathered to sing praises to Jesus at the
Victorias City Public Plaza.
After
which, a street party and live band sponsored by Smart brought entertainment to
the people.
The
7-Aside Football simultaneous with the 3K and 10K Marathon opened the second
day of the festival.
The Victorias City Women’s
Organization also had their parade and folk dance competition at the Victorias
Public Plaza and a Chess Tournament at the Senior Citizen Pavilion was also
held.
The first ever “Pagpasidungog sa
Pinakamaayo nga Tapasero kag Encargado” was held at Brgy. XIV Hda. Ofelia with different competitions for the City’s
great tapaseros and encargados.
Also on the same day, Kasalan 2014
Civil Mass Wedding has wed 58 couples at the Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Arts and
Cultural Center with Inter-women Volleyball Elimination
simultaneously held at the Public Plaza.
Finally, the City had its own Victorias
Hymn after having the song competition grand finals spearheaded by the City in
cooperation with the Victorias National High School.
The Mutya ng Lahi Coronation Night
featured mother and daughter tandems that showcased their talents and skills.
Chakra,
the City-sponsored band entertainment along with a street party took place
right after the events.
On the City’s Feast Day, April 26,
a Diana, procession of the Our Lady of Victory Parish, Concelebrated Mass took
place early in the morning.
The 6k Marathon, Inter-Women’s
Volleyball Championship, Chess Tournament, Taekwondo, Boxing were the sports events
during the festivity highlights.
The 1st Mayor Wantan
Palanca Invitational Motocross Competition and 1st Vice Mayor Jerry
Jover Shootfest also took place.
A Fluvial Parade and Re-enactment
of Victorias’ History, Most Beautiful Bangka Contest and Bangka Race was held at
the Daan Banwa Port, Brgy. IX.
The skateboarding Competition and Street
Party were the activities at the City Public Plaza during the afternoon.
In the evening were the RMN Hiphop
Competition, Balik-Victorias Cultural Show, Awarding of the 10 Outstanding
Victoriahanon OFW, Cong. Albee Celebrity Guest Night with Dianne Medina and
Ahron Villena and Fireworks Display followed by a Street Party sponsored by
Globe.
