Victorias
City holds celebration for environment with the theme, “Raise Your Voice Not the
Sea Level” last June 23 – 27.
A week-long
activity commenced with a Fun Run/Fun Walk for the Environment at 5:30 am and
it was followed by an opening program at the Victorias City Public Plaza on
June 23.
In the
afternoon of the same day, a mural painting contest was then held at the
Victorias City Resort.
The Lecture
and Discussion on Environment Laws and Policies, participated in by different
stakeholders of the City, took place at the Training Center while the Biodiversity
Appreciation Symposium (Nature and Wildlife), Bird watching, Wildlife and
Ecosystem Pictorials Exhibits was simultaneously held at Gawahon Ecological
Park last June 24.
Last June
25, the Report on Victorias City’s Biodiversity Inventory by the Philippine
Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Inc. was done during the Regular Session
of the City’s Sangguniang Panlungsod.
The River
Clean-up and Urban Greening Activity along with the Malihaw River Clean-up was
simultaneously held during the same day.
Meanwhile,
last June 26, the Barangay Clean-up Activity in the different barangays of the
City took place including.
The Poster
Making and Essay Writing Contest was also held at the Betty Bantug Benitez
Auditorium.
To
culminate the weeklong celebration on June 27, were activities such as the Tree-Planting
and Biodiversity Orientation and Lecture at the Gawahon Ecological Park
participated in by the different socio and civic organizations, members of the
academe and the officials, heads and employees of the City.
